Remember being on those family vacations when you were a kid,
and the highlight of every stop was what souvenir your parents
would agree to buy for you? Once I got my first camera, my
parents missed the days of buying those silly toys because now
they had to buy the film… and then have it developed!
Ever since my high school days I’ve taken my camera
everywhere and have always been the one capturing whatever
occasion it is on film. And at times… irritatingly so. Just ask
my husband and kids!!! But memories fade, kids grow up before
you know it and people and places change…those pictures are
there to remind us of all those moments.
Not so long ago I was encouraged to pursue Photography as a
career. I had always thought of other people, the lucky people,
as having fun careers like that. But, I gave it a shot (no pun
intended), and started taking family and children portraits for
my friends. The most wonderful feeling is when a mom cries while
looking at the pictures that I presented to her. That is when I
know that I have captured what they were hoping for, and it
gives me incredible satisfaction. Like many other parents, I
have experienced taking my child to those ‘other places’, and
been frustrated that they were more concerned with which
direction her knees went and how high her chin was than getting
a shot that looks natural and captures her personality. So when
I take pictures of kids, I like to take them where they will
feel the most comfortable, and I let them play… and it just
happens, naturally.
I hope to get the chance to photograph you and your family,
giving you something that your family can treasure for
generations to come.
